How to decorate a bedroom in the style of a beach house?

Hampton style.

The name of the style comes from the towns of East Hampton and Southampton on Long Island – favorite places to rest rich Manhattan residents who even during the holidays did not want to give up the luxury they got used to. However, they realized that seaside villas looking like New York apartments would be in conflict with the beach climate of the area.

What is Hampton style

Style combine the classic elements of the decor with furniture and trinkets of rustic and colonial origin. The effect is amazing – the elegant interiors became cozy and unpretentious. This decided about the popularity of the Hampton style, first in American cities and later also in European cities. His world-wide career was accelerated by the film “Better late than later” in 2003, with Diane Keaton and Jack Nicholson. The action takes place, inter alia, in the house of the heroine arranged in this style.

Features typical for the Hampton style

Combining styles. Next to French chairs and armchairs and tables or cupboards typical of Victorian England put up comfortable contemporary couches. There are also colonial tables, baskets and trinkets wicker from rural craftsmen.

Items looking used and old. Items of equipment do not have to be respectable antiques. It is enough artificially aged, made, for example, of bleached wood, unevenly glazed ceramics, and fabrics dyed in such a way that they look like lightly washed.

Colors inspired by nature. Colors of sand, various shades of blues, grays (from light gray to falling into black) are supposed to evoke associations with the coastal landscape.

Accessories – Vegetable and marine decorations. They can be potted flowers, nature photographs or pictures, shells, starfish etc. taken from the sea.

How to decorate bedroom with navy blue

A navy blue bedroom can be a refined and elegant space with a more sumptuous softness than other dark shades. Navy blue does not have to mean the nautical style. Navy blue contrasts greatly with white or gray. This second combination is less obvious and very elegant.
The blue wall and accessories are bold and can be a way out to many styles: modern, oriental, minimalist.
The stylization shown in the picture has a touch of the Orient. The headboard of the bed looks like made of lace. It contrasts well with the navy blue wall of the bedroom.

How to decorate bedroom with navy blue?

Navy blue is a strong color but relaxing at the same time. The blue bedroom will work positively and soothingly. Make it easier to calm down before bedtime. Just paint one wall for this color. The rest of the room can be in neutral shades of gray or cream white. The grenade beautifully contrasts every natural shade of a wooden floor.

If navy blue walls seem too drastic, start with navy accesories: navy pillows and a navy throw; a textured navy patterned rug overlaid on a more neutral scheme is an easy way to introduce the colour while making the room feel luxurious.

How to choose your best pillow filling guide step by step:

Down or feather pillows?

These pillows are light and soft—if you like a soft place to rest your head at night, you may like a down pillow. Down pillows are usually made from either goose or duck fibers.
Positive:
Down and feather pillows are in wide choice of firmness from very soft and flat good for stomack sleepers to more firm for side and back sleepers. Be aware that “pure down” and “all down” pillows may still contain feathers and other fill.

Attention

A feather pillow will likely be harder than down pillow, and there is a chance that some of the feather quills could poke through the fabric, particularly in cheaper feather pillows.

They are resilient and breathable because they are made of a natural material.

Many people worry about allergic reactions and sensitivity to down. There are people who have hard allergies to down and feathers. Often, however, the allergic reaction to down comes from a lower-quality down filling that hasn’t been sufficiently cleaned.

You can look for hypo-allergenic down, often called “hypodown,” Good quality down pillows are expensive, but worth it if this is the type of pillow you prefer.

Synthetic down and polyester fill.

Synthetic down pillows are less expensive than natural, hypo-allergenic natural down but they will need replacing more frequently.

Cotton Pillow

Cotton pillows are naturally hypo-allergenic and resistant to dust mites and mold. Cotton pillows are mostly flat and firm.

Wool Pillow

These pillows are naturally hypo-allergenic, and resistant to mold and dust mites. Wool pillows wick away moisture from your head and neck and can be effective at helping regulate your temperature during sleep, keeping you warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Wool pillows are quite firm so they are not the best for stomach sleeper.

Latex

Latex pillows are made from the sap of rubber trees.

Latex pillows tend to be more firm than down, but still very comfortable. These pillows hold their shape

Latex pillows come in all shapes and sizes. Consistencies vary as well, some use shredded material while others are made of solid cores. Latex is resistant to mold and dust mites. They are made in many shapes, deliver extra support to the head and neck. Good choice for side and back sleepers.

Negative – they have special odor which could be problem for sensitive to smells people..

Memory foam pillow

Memory foam is made of potyurethane. Very popular in recent years. Pillows are responding to your weight and body heat. Memory foam softens and contours to the lines of your head, neck, and shoulders. It also distributes weight evenly across its surface. They provide good support, especially if you have neck, jaw, or shoulder problems.

Negative – this filling can make you hot because the material doesn’t “breathe”

They are not the best choice for mixed sleeper who change position many times throughout the night, they take a bit of time to mold into different shapes.

Synthetic materials like memory foam and polyester are made through chemical processes, consider your own allergies and chemical sensitivities when selecting a pillow type.

Quality of any fill matters to comfort, support and time of living of your pillow. This is also reflected in the price.

Health conditions may mean that a "normal" pillow may not be your best choice.

Consider specialty shaped pillows.

Cervical pillows provide extra firmness in the lower part of the pillow in order to provide support for the neck

Cool pillows are designed to include fillings that absorb head heat in order to keep you feeling cool. Recommended if you suffering from hot flashes.

What about size of your best pillow.

For most people, a standard-size pillow is sufficiently large. If you prefer a larger pillow, that’s fine, provided you can keep your sleep posture in alignment. The thickness or thinness of your pillow should enable you to sleep with your head, neck, and shoulders aligned with your spine, as well as provide you comfort

How to choose the best pillow: a guide

How to choose the best pillow: a guide

Why you should start to think about your pillow?

Most people focus primary on their mattresses.

Why? Simple answer – money. When you buy your mattress it is a large financial investment. You would like to have a nice good night rest so you think about the best mattress for you.

You might not know that your sleep quality depends strongly on your pillow, too.

Chosing the best pillow for you is as important as the quality of the mattress, and for people with neck pain or back problems even more important than that.

How to choose your best pillow – a step by step guide:

What’s your main position when sleeping?

Do you know which position you tend to sleep at night? Try to observe your sleeping position and decide what is your most preferred position in bed:

Do you spend most of your night’s sleep:

  1. On your back
  2. On your side
  3. On your stomach

You don’t know? Don’t worry

How to discover your favorite sleeping position:

Think how do you fall asleep, what is your position at that moment. When you’re ready to fall asleep change your position from your back to your side, and to your stomach. Check what feels most comfortable.

Observe what is your position when you wake up in the morning.

Make these observations for a few days to be sure that you know what is your most preferred sleeping position.

Do not worry if you cannot decide. You could be a mixed sleeper, changing your position many times throughout the night.

Your preferred sleeping position determines the shape of the best pillow for you:

If you are a back sleeper

You don’t want your pillow to be too thick, or it will push your head too far forward. It should be medium thick and it can not be too soft. If your mattress is very soft try a pillow with firm bottom to prevent your head to sink down into the mattress.

If you are a stomach sleeper

You spend most of your night sleep on your stomach, so to keep your neck more in line with your spine you need a very soft, rather flat pillow. You could also try to sleep without a pillow at all!

If you are a side sleeper

You need a pillow to support your neck in a straight line with the rest of your spine, to avoid neck pain. You need a thick, firm pillow to relax your shoulders. These pillows are made in special shapes that provide additional support and stability for your head and neck. Cervical and contour pillows may help against neck and back pain

What about the size of your best pillow.
